The first time I drove through Watertown I fell in love. There are so very many different areas and types of neighborhoods. A lot of places I've been all look pretty much the same. Watertown truly has an area for almost every type of personality.

Five Watertown neighborhoods come up over and over for Fort Drum families. Each one is here for a different reason. Older trees and bigger lots. New construction with a steady school chain. The Plummer Gate commute. A price point that makes a first house possible. Walking out the front door to a coffee shop. The right answer depends on which of those matters most to your family — and a good place to start narrowing it down is to see where each one sits.

This page is the overview. The map shows you where each neighborhood is relative to post. The cards below introduce each one on its own terms. Click into any of them when one starts to sound like yours.

County Median reflects the Jefferson County, NY residential median sale price of $200,000 (908 sales, 2025), per the NYS Department of Taxation & Finance. It is a countywide figure, not a per-neighborhood estimate. School entries name the serving district only — verify current ratings and attendance zones directly with the district before relying on them.
